2023年TOKYO FRONTLINE PHOTO AWARDグランプリに輝く伊波一志の写真集。
1969年に沖縄生まれた伊波は、ルーツである沖縄や奄美を背骨にしながら「自分とは何か」「写真とは何か」をテーマに制作してきました。20代の頃、インド・タイなどへ一人旅をすることをきっかけに「写真」に出会い、2012年まで写真家として活動していましたが、2013年以降、強烈な虚無感から逃れることができなくなり、ほぼ活動休止。2022年2月、約10年ぶりの個展を開催し活動を再開しました。
この写真集が、一度は「写真にも自分にも、さようなら」をしようとし漂泊していた伊波が、自らを写真家（アーティスト）として再生する過程において制作されたことは重要です。「photography」を、自己表現ではなく、写真の側からメタ的に捉え直す作業とした、注目すべき写真集。

The photo book by Kazushi Iha, winner of the 2023 TOKYO FRONTLINE PHOTO AWARD Grand Prix.
Born in Okinawa in 1969 with his roots in Okinawa and Amami as his backbone, he has been working on the theme of “what is myself” and “what is photography”. He encountered “photography” after traveling abroad (India, Thailand, etc.) alone in his 20s, and worked steadily as a photographer until 2012, but after 2013, he could no longer escape the intense feeling of emptiness, and he nearly stopped working. He is currently restarting after holding his first solo exhibition in about 10 years in February 2022.
It is important to note that this book was produced in the process of Iha's regeneration as a photographer (artist), having once drifted off to say "good-bye to photography and to myself.” This is a remarkable collection of photographs that redefines "photography" not as a form of self-expression, but as a process of meta-reframing from the side of photography.
