2025年に誕生した新しい美術館ハイパーミュージアム飯能の第3弾企画として、2025年11月から2026年3月にかけて開催された、たかくらかずき展「キャラクターはことば」を収録した公式アーカイブブック。

たかくらかずきは、ビデオゲームやピクセルアート、AR、NFTなどのデジタル技術を用いながら、東洋思想や信仰のモチーフを横断し、さまざまなメディアで作品を展開するアーティスト。本展では、その近年の実践が美術館の内外に広がるかたちで提示された。
会場では、立体作品とデジタル作品がいたる所に配置され、空間全体がひとつの構成として組み立てられた。オニやカッパ、十二支などをモチーフとするキャラクター群が各所に現れ、高さ4メートルの巨人《ハイパーマン》が展示の軸を形成した。
たかくらが手がけるゲーム作品《摩尼遊戯TOKOYO アーケードver》《ハイパー神社（蛇／鬼）》《悟遊戯OHENRO88 demo》ほか10種類以上が展示され、来場者が体験できる形式で公開。さらに、デジタルと自然の融合をアートで試みるハイパーミュージアム独自の「ハイパーアート＆ハイパーキッズプログラム」として、屋外では《十二支すごろくAR遊戯》も実施された。

本書では、会場全景からインスタレーションの細部、屋外展開、関連イベントにまつわるグラフィックや資料までを収録。展示空間の構造やスケール、作品同士の関係性が読み取れる構成により、展覧会全体像を視覚的に記録している。
また、ハイパーミュージアム飯能館長・後藤繁雄とのロングインタビューを収録。展覧会タイトル「キャラクターはことば」をめぐる思考や、ゲーム、信仰、デジタル表現を横断するたかくらの制作背景について語られている。展示を視覚的に追うだけでなく、その構想や意図に触れることができる構成となっている。
さらに、本展にあわせて制作された《ハイパーゼロイチ音頭》（作詞・たかくらかずき／作曲・三宅優）の歌詞を収録。展示を構成したテキスト要素も含めて記録している。
展示空間からデジタル表現、テキスト、プログラムまでを横断的に収録し、展示を通じて立ち上がった、美術館の実験的な試みそのものを記録している。

This official archive book documents Characters Are Characters, a solo exhibition by Takakurakazuki held from November 2025 to March 2026 as the third exhibition project at HYPER MUSEUM HANNO, a new museum established in 2025.

Takakurakazuki is an artist whose practice spans video games, pixel art, AR, NFTs, and other digital technologies, while drawing across motifs from Eastern philosophy and systems of belief. In this exhibition, his recent work unfolded both inside and outside the museum, extending across multiple media and throughout the site as a whole.

Throughout the venue, sculptural works and digital pieces were installed in dialogue with one another, forming a single spatial composition. Characters based on motifs such as oni, kappa, and the twelve zodiac animals appeared throughout the exhibition, while the four-meter-tall Hyperman served as its central axis.

The exhibition also featured more than ten game-based works by Takakurakazuki, all presented in an interactive format for visitors to experience. In addition, as part of HYPER MUSEUM HANNO’s original Hyper Art & Hyper Kids Program, the outdoor AR work Zodiac Sugoroku AR Game was also presented, exploring the intersection of digital expression, nature, and art.

This volume includes comprehensive views of the exhibition, details of the installations, outdoor presentations, and graphics and archival materials related to associated events. Through its carefully structured documentation, the book visually records the exhibition as a whole, capturing the scale of the space, the exhibition design, and the relationships among the works.

It also features a long-form interview with Shigeo Goto, director of HYPER MUSEUM HANNO, in which Takakurakazuki reflects on the thinking behind the exhibition title Characters Are Characters and discusses the broader context of his practice across games, faith, and digital expression. The book not only traces the exhibition visually, but also offers insight into its conceptual framework and artistic intent.

Also included are the lyrics to Hyper Zero-One Ondo, created in conjunction with the exhibition, with lyrics by Takakurakazuki and music by Yuu Miyake, preserving one of the exhibition’s key textual elements as part of the record.

Spanning exhibition space, digital expression, text, and public programming, this publication documents not only the exhibition itself, but also the museum’s broader experimental approach brought into being through the project.
