緒方範人
写真家・緒方範人はこれまで、自ら撮影した東京の風景と、Google Earthや建築設計のアーカイブを用いてコンピューターの中で「建築」された架空の建造物を合成し、どこにもない都市の肖像を作り出した上でそれを銀塩プリントで「写真」にするという手法を用いてユニークな作品を作り出してきました。激しく変わりゆく実体のない「東京」を映し出した作品群は高く評価され、「Extraordinary Machine」と名付けられたシリーズは、平成23年度文化庁メディア芸術祭審査委員会推薦作品 デジタル・フォト部門にも入選いたしました。
本写真集「On the Shoreline」は、2011年3月に起こった東日本大震災以降、緒方が東北地方を定期的に訪れ、津波・地震で破壊された建物を「竣工写真」と同じ手法で撮り続けたシリーズです。本シリーズは2012年にG/P galleryでの個展、そして2012年パリで開催された「5th International Photobook Festival」で発表を行うなど、注目を集めています。
Norihito Ogata has been known for his unique approach; he combines the landscapes of Tokyo taken by him with fictional buildings that were “built” in the computer using the source from Google Earth and database of architectural archives to create the portrait of the city which does not exist. He makes gelatin silver photographic prints as the last process for his work. And the physical object photographic paper with a fictional landscape of the city has been evaluated highly. His last series “Extraordinary Machine” was selected for The 15th Japan Media Arts Festival [Jury recommended works], This book “On the Shoreline” features his latest work taken after the Tohoku Earthquake in 2011. He kept visiting the area after the earthquake and continuously shoot the damaged buildings with the traditional technique of “architectural photographs.” This project was exhibited in his solo exhibition at G/P gallery and in the 5th International Photobook Festival Kassel.
